Below is information about the roles and responsibilities handled by the ITSPP and the eLearning subcommittee regarding how eLearning procedures and policies are formed. Note: Roles and Responsibilities are defined in more detail for each eLearning application. Information Technology and Services Policy and Planning (ITSPP) Committee The ITSPP facilitates the integration of IT planning with the overall strategic planning and budget processes of The University of Queensland. more information. eLearning Subcommittee The eLearning Subcommittee reports to the ITSPP and the UQ Teaching and Learning Committee. Functions include:
o Strategies to enhance teaching and learning through the use of eLearning technologies, including the learning resources and learning support required o Strategies to create and disseminate good practices in relation to the use of eLearning technologies for teaching and learning o Institutional objectives and policies on the adoption and implementation of eLearning as one form of flexible learning
o the development of policies and standards for infrastructure and services for eLearning systems, materials and administration, based on established teaching and learning objectives o matters relating to information technology infrastructure and services to enable and support the development and maintenance of eLearning systems o University policy in relation to the nature of University support for the development of eLearning materials o Identification of appropriate platforms and infrastructure for eLearning o Standardisation of software applications for teaching and learning at UQ o Standards in relation to support for staff and students for access to eLearning materials, and supporting information o Identification of resources for the development and maintenance of the eLearning environment
The eLearning Operational Committee comprises of representatives from the Library, TEDI, and ITS and are responsible for the day to day issues that affect eLearning at UQ. They also report and give advice to the eLearning Working Party (see above).
The Working Party on Academic Guidelines for Flexible Delivery was established by the Information Technology Services Planning and Policy Committee (ITSPP) in 2000 to develop academic guidelines for embedding flexible delivery (learning) into the University's learning environment. The Working Party is developing a set of academic guidelines for flexible learning to:
The guidelines will be used to facilitate institutional planning for, and evaluation of, flexible learning. A set of UQ guidelines were finalised in 2002. As well, a statement of principles for flexible learning at the University of Queensland has been developed, to provide a rationale for flexible learning and identify the teaching and learning priorities for UQ in its further development of a flexible learning pedagogy.
