A Blackboard 'Playpen' has been set up for UQ staff to access in order to practise using Blackboard software. There is one course for each Faculty. Each course is available to all UQ staff, which means that anything you develop will probably be changed by someone else. If you are not part of a Faculty, you can still access any of the courses listed.

Remember that any content you create in the Playpen cannot be saved or copied to UQ's live server. You are able to request real sites from this page now. They will be available on the live server from January, 2005.

Accessing the Playpen

To access the Playpen:

1. Visit this site: http://staging.blackboard.elearning.uq.edu.au
   
   
   
2. Click the Login button.
   
   
3. Enter your UQ username (eg. uqjsmith) and password.
   
   
4. Click the Login button.
   
   
5. Select one of the Faculty Playpens from the Welcome screen.
   
   

 

Unfamiliar with Blackboard?

If you have no experience with Blackboard, this Blackboard Basics PDF will give you a kick start. It is intended to help those who have already undergone basic Blackboard training (the instructions are quite brief), but it will still help you touch on most of the important areas.

It is 9 pages in length, but the last 5 are Annexes for reference.

Other Hints:

* Most of your course creation control comes from the Control Panel - accessed with the white button at the bottom of the left navigation menu.

* To add material:

• use the Control Panel > click on a Content Area (eg Course
  Documents at top left of Control Panel) > add one of the options

• select the content area from the left menu (eg Course Documents) >
  click on Edit View on the right-hand side of the screen > add one of the
  options
